Master's degree is a degree awarded to individuals who completed Master's degree programs;

master's degree program is a postgraduate education and its educational programs are aimed at training personnel with the award of a Master's degree.

Requirements for admission to the Master's degree program

Individuals who have mastered training programs of higher education are accepted to the Master's degree program.

Entrance exams procedure for the Master's degree program

Acceptance of applications for Master's degree program in the organizations of higher and postgraduate study is carried out by the admissions committees of the organizations of higher and postgraduate study and (or) through the information system of the National Testing Center within the following terms:

  1. from June 1 to July 15 of a calendar year
  2. from November 5 to November 18 of a calendar year

The entrance exam in Arabic and creative exams for applicants to the Master's degree program are held at the organizations of higher and postgraduate study within the following terms:

  1.  from July 16 to July 25 of a calendar year;
  2. from December 13 to December 15 of a calendar year.

 Admission to the Master's degree program is carried out within the following terms:

  1. from August 15 to August 28 of a calendar year;
  2. from December 26 to January 10 of a calendar year.

Individuals having one of the international certificates confirming foreign language proficiency in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages are exempt from taking a foreign language test for the Master's degree program in the following languages:

English: IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System Academic), threshold score: at least 6.0

TOEFL IBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based test), threshold score: at least 60

TOEFL PBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper-based test), threshold score: at least 498

German: Deutsche Sprachpruefung fuer den Hochschulzugang (DSH, Niveau C1/level C1), TestDaF-Prufung (NiveauC1/level C1)

French: TFI (Test de Français International): at least level B1 in the reading and listening sections, DELF (Diplome d'Etudes en Langue française): level B2, DALF (Diplome Approfondi de Langue française): level C1, TCF (Test de connaissance du français): at least 50 points.

Individuals enrolling to the Master's degree program for groups of educational programs in such fields as "Pedagogical Sciences", "Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics", "Information and Communication Technologies", "Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction Industries", as well as "Humanities", "Social Sciences", "Business and Management" are exempt from comprehensive testing for Master's degree program with Kazakh or Russian languages of study upon availability of an international certificate on taking standardized GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) test with scores according to Appendix 2 to the Standard Rules.

Individuals enrolling to the Master's degree program for groups of educational programs in such fields as "Pedagogical Sciences", "Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics", "Information and Communication Technologies", "Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction Industries", as well as "Humanities", "Social Sciences", "Business and Management" are exempt from comprehensive testing for Master's degree program with Kazakh, Russian or English languages of study upon availability of an international certificate on taking standardized GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) test with scores according to Appendix 3 to the Standard Rules.

Individuals enrolling to the Master's degree program for groups of educational programs in "Business and Management" are exempt from comprehensive testing for Master's degree program with Kazakh, Russian or English languages of study upon availability of an international certificate on taking standardized GMAT test (Graduate Management Admission Test) with scores according to Appendix 4 to the Standard Rules.

When submitting documents for participation in the competition for the award of an educational grant, as well as when enrolling in the organizations of higher and postgraduate study, authenticity and validity of the submitted certificates is checked by the admission commissions of the organizations of higher and postgraduate study.

Thus, 50 points are credited to individuals having one of the certificates that confirm taking a test in a foreign language (English, French, German) specified in the paragraph, when they apply for participation in the competition for the award of an educational grant at the expense of the republican budget or local budget, as well as when enrolling in the organizations of higher and postgraduate study on a paid basis.

Individuals who have completed foreign organizations of higher and postgraduate study in countries where state or official language is English and which have specialized accreditation of foreign accreditation bodies included in the registers and (or) associations of accreditation bodies of the member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) are exempt from taking a test in foreign language (English) within 5 years when enrolling to the master's degree program with Kazakh or Russian language of study.
