visaDepending on the purpose of stay of foreigners in the Republic of Kazakhstan, various categories of visas have been established. When obtaining a visa, it is necessary to indicate those grounds that correspond to the purposes of stay. What categories of visas are provided for foreigners? To whom and for how long are they issued?

In accordance with the Rules for the issuance of Kazakhstan visas, visas are divided into the following types:

Diplomatic visa (A1, A2) is issued to heads of foreign states, governments, international organizations, equated to diplomatic status and members of their families; members of parliaments, foreign governments, international organizations, equated to diplomatic status and members of their families – holders of diplomatic passports, as well as members of official foreign delegations and their accompanying persons – holders of diplomatic passports; Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Kazakhstan and members of their families, holders of diplomatic passports, as well as passports of international organizations that have a status equivalent to diplomatic agents traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan on official business; diplomatic couriers, carrying diplomatic mail – holders of diplomatic passports, in the presence of a courier sheet, diplomatic agents of foreign diplomatic and equivalent representation offices, consular officials of foreign consular offices, employees of international organizations and their representation offices accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan, going to work in the Republic of Kazakhstan, honorary consuls of foreign states accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan and members of their families.

Diplomatic visas are issued for single entry and multiple entry and exit. Single entry visa of A1, A2 category is issued for up to 90 days, multiple A1 - up to 1 year, A2 category - up to 180 days.

Service visa (A3, A4) is issued to members of official foreign delegations, their accompanying persons and members of their families; representatives of foreign mass media accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan and traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan (in coordination with MFA of the Republic of Kazakhstan), servicemen of foreign states traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan on official business; persons who are dependent on persons applying for "A2" and "A4" visas, holders of passports of international organizations that do not have the status equivalent to diplomatic agents, as well as holders of national passports working for international organizations and members of their families; holders of official passports traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan on official business; diplomatic couriers carrying diplomatic pouches if they do not have a diplomatic passport, in the presence of courier's papers; persons traveling on a business trip to the Republic of Kazakhstan at the invitation of foreign diplomatic missions, consular agencies, international organizations and their representations, state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, cosmonauts and astronauts traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan to fly into space and returning from space to Earth, etc.

Service visas are issued for single and multiple entry and exit. Single-entry visas of category A3, A4 are issued for up to 90 days, multiple A4 - up to 1 year. A3 up to 1 and 3 years (for cosmonauts and astronauts), multiple entry visa of A4 category - up to 180 days.

Investor Visa (A5) is issued to the heads and/or deputy heads and/or heads of structural units of legal entities engaged in investment activities on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as to foreigners and stateless individuals investing under the AIFC investment tax residency program, and also to their family members.

Single entry visa is issued for a period of up to 90 days, multiple entry visa - for up to 5 years.

Business visa   (В1, В2, В3) is issued to participants of conferences, symposiums, forums, exhibitions, concerts, cultural, scientific, sports and other events; participants in meetings, organizations of round tables, exhibitions, meetings of experts; accompanying humanitarian assistance; persons arriving for the purpose of reading lectures and conducting classes in educational institutions; participants in the programs of youth, student and school exchanges, except for training in educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, persons arriving for the purpose of installation, repair and maintenance of equipment; persons arriving for the purpose of providing consulting or auditing services; persons arriving for negotiations, contracting; persons staying for negotiations, conclusion of contracts within the framework of cooperation in the field of industrialization and investments; founders or the board of directors.

Single entry visa of В1, В2, В3 category is issued for up to 90 days, multiple В1 and В3 - up to 1 year, multiple В2 - up to 180 days.

Visa for international road transport (B4) is issued to persons engaged in international road transport. Single entry visa is issued for up to 90 days, multiple entry visa - for up to 1 year.

Visa for crew members of air, sea, river vessels and train crews (B5) is issued to persons who are members of the crews of regular and charter flights, who do not have the appropriate International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) certificate, members of the train crews, and crews of sea and river vessels.

Single entry visa is issued for up to 90 days, multiple entry visa - for up to 1 year.

A visa for participation in religious activities (B6) is issued to persons traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan to participate in religious association activities (except for missionary activities). This type of visa is issued for a single entry/departure for up to 90 days.

A visa for practical training or internship (B7) is issued to persons traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan for practical training or internship, including training under the Astana Hub programmes, as well as to members of their families. Single entry visa is issued for up to 90 days, multiple entry visa - for up to 180 days.
