In eGov, a version for vision-impaired people is available Printable version
January 15, 2015On the e-Government portal, egov.kz, the version for vision-impaired citizens is available. The version was developed in accordance with the international standard, WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). According to the standard, user must be provided capability of clearly understanding the interface structure and the information on website, using various web browsers, including those for the disabled.
“The work done enabled reaching the results on such indicators as contrast – no less than 4.5:1, capability of choosing the text color and background, line space of 1.5 and more, the space between paragraphs half as large as the space between lines. All these indicators would allow the vision-impaired citizens to use more than 570 e-services”, Deputy CEO of National Information Technologies JSC Talgat Ismagambetov said.
On the e-Government portal, over 3 million users have been registered, therefore, a new version is the next step in ensuring the public services’ accessibility услуг.
The version for vision-impaired citizens was evaluated by President of Kazakh Society of the Blind” Baibolat Aubakirov who said: “Such technologies are widely applied un international practices all round the world. It is now accessible in Kazakhstan as well, given that the disabled people face multiple problems every day. I am greatly satisfied that the e-Government portal is seeking to make the public services delivery process accessible to all people”.
According to the statistics, over 680 thousand people with impairment of vision live currently in Kazakhstan, of them 20 thousand are sight-disabled persons.
