newborn baby's heels and handsInfertility is considered by doctors not only as s medical, but also as a social issue. IVF is one of the assisted reproductive technologies used in the case of infertility of married couples.

The reproductive technologies (ART) used in the country include:

  • in vitro fertilization (IVF);
  • surrogacy;
  • use of donor cells;
  • Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI);
  • intrauterine insemination (IUI);
  • oocyte cryopreservation (freezing and storage);
  • preimplantation genetic diagnosis of the embryo (PGD);
  • TESA method for collecting sperm from the men.

What differs such conception from a classical one is that it occurs outside a mother's body. The required genetic material is taken from a mother and father. In the laboratory, the eggs are fertilized, and then an embryo is transferred to a special incubator. If development goes well, then several embryos are selected to be transferred to a woman's uterus.

Also, if preferred by a patient, IVF can be done on a paid basis in private clinics and prices are set by private clinics.
