Cadet Corps under Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan Printable version

The Cadet Corps under MD of RK was established by the order of President of RK as of July 01, 1996 No. 3049.

The Colours was awarded on July 29, 1999 by M. Altynbayev, Minister of Defense-Army General.

Pursuant to the Decree of the Government of RK as of February 16, 2000, No,257 and order of Minister of Defense of RK as of November 29, 2000 No. 310, the Cadet Corps under MD of RK was named after Shoqan Walikhanov.

The Sh.Walikhanov Cadet Corps under MD of RK (hereinafter: Cadet Corps) is a military educational organization which performs training under the program of technical and vocational education with major in “Junior Management in Military Affairs” and qualification “Armored Infantry Units Management” for assignment for the positions of non-commissioned officers of the Armed Forces. The training duration is 1 year and 10 months based on 11 grades of secondary school.         

How to enter Sh.Walikhanov Cadet Corps under MD of RK

Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan have a right to enter the Cadet Corps under the following conditions: 

1) citizens who did not do military service and reached the age of 17 in a year of admission, but no older than 22 years old;

2) citizens who did military service and military servicemen undergoing military service until reaching the age of 24 in a year of admission;

3) citizens doing military service under the contract until the age of 25.

Enrollment of citizens is performed on a competitive basis pursuant to the Rules for enrollment to military educational organizations approved by an authorized agency.

A candidate should submit an application to a local military authority (military commissariat) at the place of residence until May 1 and have national ID and conscription registration certificate. If at a year of admission, a candidate does not reach a legal age, it is necessary to submit a notarized statement of consent of his legal representative (father, mother or guardian) to enter and conclude a contract for military service for the training period and 10 years after graduation from the Cadet Corps.

Undergoing medical examination at local military authority  

The local military authority (military commissariat) organizes a medical examination. Date, list of necessary certificates and documents are specified at the place of application.

The following is needed to undergo a medical examination: national ID, conscription registration certificate, certificate from a narcological clinic, certificate from a neuropsychiatric clinic, certificate from a TB dispensary, HIV status abstract. Concerning the other documents that are required, contact a local military authority.

Applicants who underwent a specialized verification, who are physically qualified for training, who have a document of education with grade-point average no less than 3.5 or no less than 2  in GPA (UNT certificate and results of integration test are not required) are to arrive to the Cadet Corps until July 30 of an year of admission.

Enrollment to the Cadet Corps of citizens and military servicemen is performed from August 1st to 20th in 4 stages:

1st stage: professional and psychological selection;

2nd stage: final medical examination in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of July 2, 2015 No. 373 “On the Approval of the Rules for conducting military medical examination in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan”;

3rd stage: checking of physical fitness according to the standards defined by the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of April 3, 2013 No. 115 “On the Approval of Standard Curricula in General Subjects and Elective Courses for General Educational Organizations”.

4th stage: competitive selection and enrollment.

Each stage can only be passed once. Applicants who have not passed a previous stage are not allowed to the next stage.

Professional and psychological selection of applicants includes checking the level of motivation, stress tolerance, critical and logical thinking, and is carried out by the selection committee in conjunction with the educational and ideological work department of the Cadet Corps in coordination with a structural unit. Applicants not recommended according to the results of professional psychological testing are considered not to have passed the stage.

Final medical examination involves determination of fitness for training in the Cadet Corps based on health condition and is conducted by a medical commission established pursuant to the Rules for execution of military medical examination.

Checking of physical fitness of applicants involve acceptance of the following physical training standards:

for military servicemen (including those in reserve): pursuant to the order of Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of May 5, 2014 No.195 “On the Approval of Physical Training Standards in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan”;

check of physical fitness for citizens is performed based on standards stipulated by the order of Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of April 03, 2013, No. 115 “On the Approval of Standard Curricula in General Subjects and Elective Courses for General Educational Organizations”.

Competitive selection is carried out by the selection committee on August 20 of the year of admission and involves compiling of a rating of applicants from maximum to minimum rating points. The rating is registered in a minutes of the Cadet Corps` selection committee.    

The Cadet Corps enrolls applicants in the ranking from the first number to the number corresponding to the number of allocated places according to the selection plan. It is allowed to exceed the selection plan up to 10% of the total number.

A decision of a selection committee is announced until 10.00 AM on August 21st and is approved on August 22nd by an order of the Head of the Cadet Corps and then published on the website. Appeals are accepted until 06.00 PM of August 21st.

In case of similar indicators during a competitive selection, a privilege for enrollment to the Cadet Corps is provided to individuals stated in clause 1 of article 39 of the Law.

  • orphans and children who were left without parental care;
  • graduates from educational organizations that have additional military training programs;
  • children of military servicemen who died, gone missing or received a disability in the performance of military service duties;
  • individuals awarded with “Altyn Belgi”;
  • winners of international olympiads and competitions of scientific projects (scientific competitions) in general subjects, republican and international competitions of performers and sports competitions for the last three years awarded with diplomas of the first and third degrees, the list of which is determined by the authorized body in the field of education, winners of the presidential, republican olympiads and competitions of scientific projects in general subjects of the current year awarded with diplomas of the first or third degrees, subject to the compliance of their chosen specialty with the subject of the Olympiad or competition.
