If you are a foreigner and decided to carry out labor activity on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in this article we will tell you what to do to obtain a permit.

To cross the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan you will need a valid national passport, after which the Border Guard Service will issue you a migration card with a stamped stamp.

All further procedures, including registration at the place of stay, registration of IINs (if necessary) and obtaining a permit, are carried out in the Migration Service Center (MSCs - in regional centers) or in the district division of migration services.

Registration at the place of temporary residence

You need to register at the place of temporary residence within 5 days from the date of entry. To do this, you need to visit the Migration Service Centre or the Migration Service together with the host person. You need to have your passport and migration card with a border guard stamped on it.

The inviting person fills in an application for temporary registration of a foreigner in the established form. As a result of the service provision, the migration card shall be stamped and the registration term shall be applied.

Registration of IINs for payment of state fees

In order to obtain a work permit, an employer must be found in Kazakhstan and an employment contract must be concluded. Citizens of the Republics of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine have the right to work for natural persons without any benefit. Citizens of the EAEU (Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Armenia) carry out their labor activity on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan without obtaining a permit on the basis of an employment contract.

To pay the state duty, citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine must obtain an IIN (individual identification number).

For this purpose, it is necessary to apply to the MCS or to the district offices of the migration services, having a national passport with them. You'll be given a certificate of IIN formation there.

Obtaining a work permit

In order to obtain a work permit, you need to undergo a medical examination, photo-, video-, fingerprint registration, pay state fees for these procedures and get medical insurance.

You can get a medical check-up at the MCS or health care facilities, which will result in a 086-U certificate. Medical insurance can be obtained there from the MCS or from the Migration Service.

For photo, video, fingerprint registration, you will be given a referral to a criminal investigator at the Migration Service, after which you will receive a certificate.

As a result, if you submit your national passport, certificate No. 086-u, forensic certificate, state duty payment receipt, medical insurance to the MCS or the Migration Service, you will receive a work permit within one working day. The duration of the permit depends on how long the state duty has been paid, but not more than three months.

Extension of the work permit

You can extend the permit for up to one year. To do this, you need to write an application, provide the Migration Service with a primary work permit, a copy of the employment contract, and a receipt for payment of the state duty.
