Individual identification number (IIN)
Individual identification number (IIN) is unique number formed for natural entity and self employed entrepreneurs.
Combination of 12 numbers of IIN is placed on the front side of the ID card of the citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, below the date of birth. In the passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan citizen IIN is place on the 32nd page.
The aim of IIN introduction is in the transfer to the integrated registration of the data related to the certain person. This number is assigned for the lifetime.
In practice IIN will replace TIN, SIC, codes of statistics agencies and so on and is going to simplify cooperation between society and the state.
According to the clause 2 of article 13 of the Law “On national registers of identification numbers”, 01.02.2007, No 223, re-issue of the ID card (passport and ID card of the citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan) without IIN on the front page started from August 13, 2008.
Suffice to mention that the majority of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan has IIN on their ID cards, because this number is being placed in ID cards from 1997.
According to the clause 5 of article 13 of the Law exchange of the documents for ones with IIN is free of charge, another words at the expense of the budget and if person passes previously issued documents to the registration agency.
Persons should submit to the «State-owned corporation «Government for citizens» NJSC by the place of residence or in case of absence of «State-owned corporation «Government for citizens» NJSC – to the territorial justice agencies:
- passport or ID card (copy and original for checking);
- address reference or copy of civil registration book ((house register) copy and original for checking));
- 2 photos (3.5x4.5 cm).
Foreign citizens and stateless persons permanently residing in Kazakhstan who do not have IIN on the front page of residence permit or on the 32 page of passport below the date of birth should visit internal affair agencies by the place of residence to reissue the document.
