April 20, 2021On April 1st, 2021, National Information Technologies JSC in cooperation with Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development and Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry launched the national system called “Electronic Vehicle Passport” throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan. An electronic document will be drawn up for new and imported vehicles as well as for old vehicles upon owners` will. Digitalization of vehicles enables tracking their lifecycle not only in our country but also on the whole territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Electronic passport will contain technical description of a vehicle, information about an owner, registration activities, any restrictions and encumbrances, payment of disposal fee, customs restrictions and customs clearence, information about traffic accidents and technical inspection.
According to Rostislav Konyashkin, Chairman of the Board, National Information Technologies JSC, a digital document will reduce the number of fraudulent cases when selling vehicles. Thus, those who drive or will drive are to have secure and transparent transactions. “Due to verification via EAEU central database, a capability will become available to detect duplicate VIN-codes, which in its turn will prevent citizens from buying problematic vehicles” he told.
In the course of a vehicle exploitation, its passport will be updated and any changes will be tracked by the system. Availability of reliable information about a vehicle will make the purchase/sale process more secure for drivers across the entire territory of EAEU countries.
It should be noted that the project was implemented under the Agreement on Introduction of Single Forms of Vehicle Passports signed by EAEU countries.
